If you love French toast and chocolate, these Chocolate French Toast Sticks are perfect for you! It’s a must-have for brunch or a special weekend breakfast treat. With warm, gooey chocolate inside, every bite will take your breakfast to another level!
Start by cutting the crusts off the slices of bread to create even, crustless squares. Spread a layer of chocolate spread on one slice.
Then, place the second slice on top to create a sandwich, pressing the slices gently together.
After that, vertically cut the sandwich in half creating two rectangular pieces.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until smooth.
Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, coating all sides evenly but not soaking them too much. Shake off any excess custard.
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and grease it lightly with butter or oil. Place the custard-dipped bread stick onto the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
Roll cooked French toast bread sticks in cinnamon and sugar.
Once the French toast sticks are cooked, serve immediately with an extra side of chocolate spread for dipping. Optionally, top with whipped cream, Greek yogurt or fresh berries.
Notes
