    These 5-ingredient Apple Oatmeal Pancakes are the perfect breakfast for cool fall, cold winter mornings or you simply crave to eat something cozy. They are healthy, quick and easy to make.

    To make these 5-ingredient Apple Oatmeal Pancakes, you will only need oat flour, applesauce, egg, baking powder and caramelized diced apples as the topping.

    Trust me, these healthy pancakes taste so much better than those from a box. The fluffiness they get is simply insane!

    What makes these pancakes healthier?

    While traditional pancake recipes are high in carbohydrates and fat with have no nutritional value. These ones are not! here why:

    • Lower in fat: Most pancake recipes use butter and cream. These ones are oil-free.
    • Whole grain flour: In one-third cup, whole-grain oat flour has 7 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber. It has less carbohydrates than regular flour and it will also keep you satisfied for hours!
    • Lower in calories: Regularly pancakes are high in calories. In this recipe, you get less than 250 calories per 2 pancakes.

    What you’ll need to make these 5-ingredient Apple Oatmeal Pancakes:

    • Oat flour – You can also blend rolled or quick oats to get oat flour! If Gluten-free, make sure you pick a certified brand. I love using oat flour because it’s high in fiber, protein and it keeps me full for hours without feeling bloated or hungry for hours.
    • Egg – I used cage-free 
    • Baking powder
    • Unsweetened Applesauce – For those who don’t know what it is, it’s “apple puree”.
    • Caramelized diced apples – Homemade, easy to make and ready in less than a minute!

    How to make these 5-ingredient Apple Oatmeal Pancakes:

    • Prepare – Once you have gathered all the ingredients, in a bowl start off by mixing the oat flour and baking powder. Therefore, add-in the egg and applesauce and stir until well combined.

    • Cook – Turn on stove top on low heat and consequently in a non-stick pan spray some oil or add 1 tbsp of coconut oil. Consequently, add a big spoonful of your batter and flat until making a circle shape. Wait until slightly seeing some bubbles and that’s the sign to flip your pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes more on the other side and take it out from the pan. Do the same until the batter is finished.
    • Topping – To make the caramelized diced apples, you will need a fresh apple, peel and dice into cubes. Transfer into a bowl, add some dash of cinnamon, 1 tbsp honey and stir until well combined. Therefore, microwave for 1 minute. They should turn softer and it will be immmediately ready!

    • Serve – Enjoy your stack of pancakes with caramelized diced apples on top and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup (optional). Bon appetit!

    Tips for storing these Oatmeal Pancakes:

    • To store: If you didn’t finish all the pancakes, store it in the fridge in an airtight container, for up to a week.
    • To reheat: Microwave for 30 seconds and they will be fluffy again. Make sure to add more caramelized diced apples and additional honey or maple syrup.

    What to serve with these Pancakes (optional)

    1. Extra vanilla yogurt: Any of choice, could be a plant-based one or greek yogurt.
    2. Coffee: If eating for breakfast, a cup of coffee goes amazing. This would be my personal choice.
    3. Tea: In case you don’t like coffee. This is your go-to, tea lovers!

    What’s Applesauce and where can I get it?

    For those who don’t know what it is, it’s “apple puree”. You can get it at any grocery store as I did or go for the long way which is buying some apples, peeling, boiling them until soft and therefore blending them in a food processor until getting a “puree” consistency.

    I honestly prefer to buy it haha, it saves a LOT of time and it’s cheap!

    FAQ

    Can I blend oats to get oat flour?

    The answer is YES! Oat flour is actually blended oats. I would recommend blending quick oats as this type is already more processed. Stop to stir occasionally until they form a fine flour.

    Can I make these pancakes vegan?

    Yes! Replace the egg with an additional 1/2 cup of applesauce.

    I’m allergic to gluten. What can I do?

    No worries, make sure to use certified gluten-free oats and blend into flour.
