This recipe has only 6 ingredients that I bet you already have in your pantry. It can be ready in 15 minutes which a HUGE time saver.

I’ve wanted to share this recipe of No-Bake Energy Balls for a long time now — and I’m just so happy that they’re up on the blog! They’re simple and easy to throw together.

These Double Chocolate Energy Balls took me less than 15 minutes to make! You will only need oat flour, almond butter, liquid sweetener of choice (could be honey or maple syrup), vanilla extract, salt and chocolate chips.

How to make these Double Chocolate Energy Balls?

    The ingredients

We have a lot of your favorite ingredients and here’s what you’ll need:

    • Oat flour – which is blended rolled oats. Feel free to use any kind of oats, quick oats work as well. If gluten-free make sure that you choose a certified brand!
    • Salt – Salt is so important on recipes. Because it enhances the flavor like crazy!
    • Vanilla extract – For that special hint of vanilla flavor.
    • Liquid sweetener of choice – In my case I used honey but to make it vegan use maple, agave or date syrup.
    • Almond Butter – I used natural Kirkland’s Almond Butter. It’s made with 100% almonds so no weird ingredients, added oils and extra sugar are in the jar.
    • Chocolate chips – I used Ghirardelli’s 60% dark chocolate chips. You can use any type of chocolate chips. If you don’t have, then replace for dark chocolate cut in small chunks.

How to make this Double Chocolate Energy Balls?

    The Instructions

    • Prepare – Gather and measure all ingredients by starting to mix the oat flour, unsweetened cacao powder and salt in a bowl. Therefore, add-in the peanut butter, liquid sweetener of choice and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined. If the mixture seems too wet, add a bit more oat flour. If it’s too dry, add a bit more almond butter. It should resemble a somewhat sticky dough that holds together when lightly squeezed.

    • Roll – Roll into 1-inch ball, using your hands to mold them together. Should yield around 10 small balls.

    • Add – Consequently, add chocolate chips on top by slightly pressing them into the ball so they can stick. The more, THE BETTER (trust me).

    • Enjoy – Eat immediately or to set, pop in fridge for 1 hour! Refrigerating these balls will give a harder texture almost like a truffle consistency.

How to eat these Energy Balls?

Immediately from the batch! If you would like a harder texture or “truffle-like consistency” then pop in the fridge for 1 hour.

These energy balls are perfect when craving something sweet after lunch or dinner. They are filling and cure your sweet tooth immediately!

What’s the yield of these Chocolate Chip Energy Balls recipe?

This recipe makes around 10 balls. YES! It’s a small recipe. But in case you would like to make for more people or simply have more of these balls to snack on. Feel free to double or triple this recipe!

    Storing tips

These balls are so delicious that I don’t think you will have to store them for a long time. But in case you do, here are some tips:

    • To store: Store in an airlight container at room temperature up to 2-3 days. Therefore, store in the fridge for up to 14 days. For a longer storage put in the freezer for up to a month.
    • To eat: If stored in the fridge, consume immediately. Otherwise, if stored in the freezer. Let thaw for 30 minutes and eat straight.

    Ingredients substitutes and notes

    • No oat flour? Use rolled oats and add all the ingredients into a blender.
    • Gluten-free? Make sure to use a certified oats!
    • Alergic to almonds? Use peanut, cashew or any nut butter of choice!
    • For the liquid sweetener of choice, you can use honey, maple, date or agave syrup! If using granulated sweetener, you may have to add more peanut butter until getting a sticky dough.
